[It's that time of night again! Bofur pings Legolas' rune, sitting by the fire with his knees drawn up to his chest. When the feed starts, the dwarf has his rune perched in his lap as he works at a large chunk of wood, currently shapeless.]

[Legolas is relaxing with a book and a glass of wine (nothing quite so strong as what they serve at feasts and celebrations) when he gets the feed. Smiling, he sets both aside and turns on his own, quietly watching the dwarf for a moment with a fond smile.

And maybe very discreetly checking to make sure Bofur isn't hurt or anything.]

What will that one be?

[He glances back at the rune once he hears Legolas speak, his concentrated expression splitting into a bright smile. He glances at the block of wood in his lap.]

With any luck, this'll be a fiddle.

[He almost chuckles. Almost.]

I doubt very much that you'll need any luck. I've mentioned before that your skills are impressive.

[He wasn't just sucking up when he said that. He still means it.]

[Legolas may keep from laughing, but Bofur lets out a chuckle at the same at the comment and shakes his head.]

Makin' toys or a few figures isn't like makin' an instrument. The 'arp turned out alright though, so I thought mayhaps I'd try my 'and at a fiddle for the lads.

Oh no, I don't doubt that at all. But neither do I doubt your talent with wood and knife.

[Nobody should.]

I hope I'll be able to see it when you're done.

[Bofur smiles, setting his work aside for now and picking the rune up so he can get a better look at Legolas.]

Oh aye, well if we continue t' contact each other regularly, don't doubt you'll get a chance. May be over th' rune, but that's better than nothin'.

[A little sigh, and he glances over at the others.]

...People keep askin' bout the pendant you've given me. [Unsurprising, as it hangs loosely around Bofur's neck, the Elvish piece a stark contrast against travel-worn clothes.]

Which we most certainly will. I fear I may be worrying for you more than I should. [He is.]

Things have grown far to quiet here. [What that? That distinctly sounds like 'I miss you being here.'

He gives a little laugh at that though.]

I suppose I'm not surprised. I could have chosen one that stood out a bit less but that one... just seemed to call out to be given to you.

Don't you worry too much 'bout me, lad. [Bofur chuckles.] I'll be jus' fine. Nothin' too dangerous 'bout this trip o' ours.

[His smile softens.] I won't be long.

[He thumbs over his pendant and nods thoughtfully.] 'S perfect, really. ...The 'ard part is tryin' t' figure out what t' tell 'em when they ask why I 'ave it.

I'll try not to. It's easier not to worry if things are busy.

[Legolas' smile grows but he does have a bit of a guilty look in his eyes.] I won't rush you if you'd like to stay away longer, of course.

[Oh. He hadn't really thought of that when he'd given it to Bofur.] I'm sure you'll think of something or already have. I am glad you like it though, I was afraid you might not.

[Bofur shakes his head.] Legolas. Relax, lad. I'll be back with you soon 's I can. 'S where I want t' be.

[He chuckles and thumbs over the pendant.] Been tellin' 'em you named me Elf-Friend an' they don't question too much after that.

I know. I just want you to know that I would never ask you to come back if ever you don't want to be here.

[Legolas can't help but laugh a little with him.]

I wish I could claim it a surprise. I hope they give you no trouble for it.

[Oh please. He lets out a huff.] Stop sayin' that, you know I'm comin' back.

[That makes Bofur laugh again.] No, they're not givin' me any trouble 't all. We've all sort o' decided t' let it lie.

[Just sticks his tongue out at Bofur. Can't help that slightly childish instinct.]

Good.

How is the search going?

[That makes him laugh and he glances down. Funny how much he misses the elf already. Speaking over the rune really didn't do much to alleviate that.]

Well 'nough. Nothin' really t' report so far.

[The two of them are in the same boat. There were already times when Legolas expected to walk down a hall and either hear Bofur's laugh or hear an elfling squealing at the sight of one of his toys.]

I'm sure you'll all find something.

I 'ope so. I can't wait t' get back with you.

And I can't wait to have you back with me.

[Bofur's smile softens.] Miss you too.

Oh, speakin' o' that, I saw th' nice surprise y' left in my things.

[His smile only grows at the admission.]

It was the least I could do since I couldn't hide myself among your things.

[He laughs and picks up the nice little pouch of wine Legolas had packed, lifting it briefly to the elf before taking a short swig.]

I'll think o' you every time I drink, aye?

[Legolas grins and takes his own glass from where he'd set it, lifting it in turn before taking a sip.]

Good, so long as you'll not get yourself too drunk off of it.

[He laughs again, setting it down.]

Don't trust m'self to have much more, t' be honest.

At least you have it for when you feel like a bit more.

[Bofur smiles fondly at him.]

An' how are things going' back in th' wood?

[The smile is gladly returned but the prince gives the softest of sighs.]

It's terribly quiet. The spiders haven't been as great a threat since the flooding started and one of the dragons was attacked. And a couple of people passed through.

[Bofur nods thoughtfully.]

'S all a bit strange, isn't it? Well, I s'pose th' havens themselves are strange.

Very strange although I've no doubt that the forest with be back to it's normal self soon enough.

Normal self? [He raises an eyebrow. There's many ways that could go, Legolas.]

Spiders and orcs acting as they always have.

[It's sad that he's only ever known the forest to be that way. So it is normal. Sort of.]

Do y' know, that's th' strangest thing 'bout th' Havens. There's no danger on th' roads, really.

I've noticed. It's pleasant, if not a bit unnerving when one first arrives.

Gives you less t' worry 'bout. [He grins.]

So it does~

Less for everyone to worry about really.

True 'nough. Still strange. Keep won'drin' when somethin's gonna jump out an' try t' kill us.

You're not alone in that at least.

Not quite sure I trust this place. [He chuckles, glancing around.] I'll be keepin' my mattock close.

I do no blame you, I would keep a weapon close to me as well.

[He does. Even in his own Halls.]

[Bofur nods thoughtfully. Hesitating slightly, he asks the question that he's really been wondering.]

..How are th' children?

[That gets a good laugh out of Legolas.]

Oh, they're alright~ Already asking when you're coming back!

[He laughs as well, smiling brightly.]

Oh are they?

They have regularly asked me when "Uncle Bofur" is coming home.

[He chuckles, smiling fondly.] Tell 'em it won't be long now.

They'll be delighted to hear that.

[And they're not alone. Not that Legolas says anything but it probably shows in his eyes.]
